One of Glee's most popular stars has made the voluntary decision to enter rehab for drug addiction . The beloved star Cory Monteith who plays Finn Hudson has admitted in the past his drug addiction issues that has plagued him in the past. We do not know what has caused him to take a step back into using drugs. How does his girlfriend Lea Michele who plays Rachel Berry on Glee feel about Cory's decision?
"[Cory] has voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction," his representative told People. "He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery."
Monteith's announcement was followed shortly by a message of support from his Glee co-star and girlfriend Lea Michele, who told the publication that she is "proud" he has taken a positive step.
Michele said: "I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision."
The actor previously admitted in 2011 to having spent time in rehab at age 19 for addiction issues.
"I'll go out, but I leave early, before the shenanigans," he said two years ago. "I don't really do the Hollywood party thing. I'd rather watch sports or play video games or work out or sleep, to be totally honest."
Monteith stars on Fox's critically acclaimed show Glee as former New Directions member Finn Hudson, who has appeared in each of the series' four seasons.
We are proud of Cory for making the decision to get help for his addiction issues. We are supporting him as he works through his recovery.
